The City Councilor
Jacob Daniels was born in Cottage Grove, Oregon and grew up in Creswell. He began his career early, working for his family produce business at age 10.Working for the company introduced Jacob to hardwork, interstate commerce, and he quickly began to understand economics. Emulating the entrepreneurial spirit he learned from his family, Jacob started his own law practice in Creswell.
Jacob attended the University of Oregon where he majored in Political Science, graduated summa cum laude, and gave the Political Science commencement address. After college, he attended Tulane University Law School in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he earned his law degree and a certificate in environmental law.
Public service has always been an important part of Jacob’s life. He always finds a way to serve his neighbors. During Jacob’s final year of law school he served as a defense attorney for underprivileged youth in post-Katrina New Orleans. In addition to serving on the City Council, Jacob is currently a member of the South Lane County Fire & Rescue board of directors, the board of directors and legal counsel of the South Lane Family Relief Nursery, and is a member of the Creswell School District Budget Committee. Jacob previously served as a gubernatorial appointee to the Oregon Small Business Advisory Council. “The council advises the Governor on small business promotional opportunities; recommends improvements in state-funded programs; identifies state laws, programs and policies that may need change; and works on special projects assigned by the Governor.”
Times are tough, but Jacob believes they can and will get better – we just need a fresh approach.
